Urgent COVID-19 Emergency Relief
The South Flint Soup Kitchen opens its doors six days a week to share food with anyone who is hungry. We have shifted how we serve due to the need for safe social distancing but we continue to support our community with love and caring. The fact is that people are being effected like never before. We are doing everything we can to serve the seniors, families, youth and children in our community who have the least access to food. This is the focus of our Urgent COVID-19 Emergency Relief program. Please give now!
Located on Fenton Road at the former Lincoln Park United Methodist Church, we provide over 30,000 meals per year to the homeless and food insecure families of South Flint. In addition to nutritious meals, children receive a healthy snack and free books to take with them. We are using some of the funds we raise to add more fresh produce. Clients also receive access to a food pantry and to personal hygiene products, diapers, and toilet paper. These items are more important than ever in the public health emergency.
The South Flint Soup Kitchen also acts as a resource center to direct people to community partners for additional services, such as Catholic Charities and Crossover Ministries. Pastor Horne provides pastoral care and ensures that everyone who comes in the doors feels the love of Jesus Christ. The South Flint Soup Kitchen is an EngageMI East Winds District Christ Centered Mission.
