Good health begins with a healthy diet. Unfortunately, the Cody Rouge neighborhood in Detroit, MI lacks nutritional food options, so for the past six years Joy-Southfield has organized the Sowing Seeds Growing Futures Farmers’ Market, providing a crucial outlet for homegrown produce. We continue to improve our market year-to-year, making it a weekly destination event where community members can eat delicious food, listen to music, and sit down to relax on beautiful summer days. However, serious updates are needed.  We sit under crumbling tents, frequently have garbage dumped on the property due to a lack of permanent cans, and have a stereo with only one of 6 speakers working. Consequently, we are asking for $6,000 in donations to “spruce up” our drab slab of concrete. Please help us make our market a more enjoyable space, so we can improve the health of as many as possible!
